They are very sensitive to light

Children are generally more sensitive to light than adults because their lens is perfectly transparent and will gradually become cloudy over the course of life (a phenomenon commonly referred to as a cataract).

However, if your child seems more sensitive to light than their brothers and sisters or classmates, if they squint with every change in light, appear to be more clumsy or seem to see less well than their classmates, it is imperative to consult an ophthalmologist for a check-up to ensure that your child is not affected by retinal disease or inflammation of the eye, for example.
